Dynamic Currency Conversion on ATMs

Now ATMs managed on Way4 Transaction Switch allow customers to choose one of several currencies for each transaction. Such flexibility increases the chance that customers will decide to proceed with the operation.

Once a cardholder makes a choice via ATM screen, our system sends an authorization request to the issuer in the selected currency, applies the necessary FX rates in real time, and also converts the cost of this service into the card BIN currency. At the moment, this processing flow relies on the Way4 Dynamic Currency Conversion solution, and not on third-party DCC solutions.

For DCC operations, the ATM print-out receipt can include the following data:

  • Operation amount in the cardholder’s chosen currency

  • Date of currency conversion

  • FX rate used

  • FX markup percentage that was used to calculate the conversion fee
