UnionPay QR transaction flow in merchant-presented mode

Way4 Acquiring now supports UnionPay QR code payments in a Merchant-Presented mode.

We have enabled the following scenario for in-store payments to be implemented by the acquirer:

  1. When a customer is ready to pay, the merchant uses a POS terminal to request a dynamic QR code from Way4 Acquiring.

  2. Way4 Acquiring system generates the dynamic QR as per UnionPay standards and sends the requested code back to the POS, which displays it on screen.

  3. The customer scans the QR code with a mobile app, which sends the payment request to Way4 Acquiring via the UnionPay Mobile Payment System (UMPS).

  4. After Way4 validates merchant credentials, the request is forwarded to the UnionPay GSCS system and then by GSCS to the issuer for authorization.

  5. Through UMPS and UnionPay GSCS, the issuer’s reply is returned to the acquirer. Way4 instantly notifies the merchant and cardholder via SMS and/or push-notifications. 

Similarly, Way4 can support a flow for refunds and canceled transactions.
