With the new Way4 REST API for PIN Reset service, the issuer can offer cardholders to manage PIN codes themselves in a convenient, flexible and time-efficient manner. This self-service can be accessed via web banking, mobile apps, and other digital interfaces. It decreases the PIN-related workload in branches and call centers, and reduces the risks associated with manual handling of sensitive data or inadequate customer verification procedures.

As the most common use cases, the cardholder can:

  1. Retrieve a forgotten PIN code and see it on-screen
  2. Change a PIN code to a new value, if the old one has been compromised
  3. Set a PIN code from scratch for a new card

The latter use case was already supported by Way4 but required a separate implementation for each channel (SMS, IVR, ATM, and web banking).

The new REST API significantly expands the PIN-related functionality on both web and mobile channels and improves the customer experience. For cardholders traveling abroad or using their card outside business hours, the newly supported operations can be not only convenient, but critical.

Way4 processes PIN management requests in real time and in accordance with appropriate security standards.

A new license is required for issuers to deploy the Way4 REST API for PIN management.
