Issuers and acquirers can rely on Way4 to support the Visa Alias service. This service enables cardholders to create aliases for Visa cards and enjoy convenient quick payments and transfers, without having to remember card PAN digits. The payment scheme manages its own directory of aliases, where one card can have several aliases but each alias can refer to only one card. Please contact your Visa representative for more information, as the availability of this service may vary by region.

Now Way4 can record updates and delete aliases in its own issuing database and in Visa’s directory. For now, Way4 accepts only a mobile number as an alias. In the future it may support other personal identifiers such as nicknames or e-mail addresses. Cardholders can send alias management requests via mobile and web banking.

On the acquiring side, Way4 can process P2P transfers where the recipient is identified by an alias. The sender types in the destination mobile number, and Way4 displays the recipient’s name and the issuing bank’s brand. Thanks to these extended data, senders can be sure that they are crediting the correct card. These transactions can be initiated via mobile and web banking, ATMs and self-service kiosks.

Way4 also provides new APIs for Visa alias workflows, where the issuer or acquirer manages self-service channels via a third-party solution.

Issuers and acquirers can reuse the new functionality for cards of other payment schemes, since Way4 can associate any PAN number with an alias.
