A simpler checkout, a new wallet service or a more flexible credit product — all these create opportunities in the payments industry. But delivering that value depends on what happens behind the customer experience: how easily teams can integrate services, configure products, test changes and deploy them while keeping payments running.
At OpenWay’s latest Release Notes for Business webinar, we presented new capabilities in Way4 releases for 2026. Across card issuing, merchant acquiring, digital wallets and platform services, these updates help banks, processors and fintechs expand their offerings and simplify the work required to deliver and operate them.
Highlights from the latest Way4 releases
Card issuing: more control and smoother digital journeys
Way4 Card Issuing enhancements help institutions improve customer experiences across authentication, credit servicing and everyday card management.
-
Digital payment integration. An In-App Provisioning SDK simplifies card provisioning into OEM wallets. Enhanced out-of-band authentication and updates to the Strong Customer Authentication SDK support authentication within institutions’ own applications.
-
One-time payment tokens. A one-time token can be safely used in e-commerce payments without exposing underlying card credentials, including token generation, validation and CVV2 management.
-
Flexible credit servicing. Transactions from a previous billing cycle can be converted into instalment plans while preserving accrued interest and avoiding the backdated correction process.
-
Cardholder self-service. API-generated billing statements and subscription management give customers easier access to information through their digital channels and greater control over recurring payments.
Merchant acquiring: easier acceptance and clearer pricing
New acquiring capabilities help merchants accept digital payments while giving acquirers more flexibility in integration and operations.
-
Expanded checkout options. Pay-by-Link enables merchants to create, share and manage payment requests without a dedicated online checkout. Visa and Mastercard Click to Pay support faster checkout using eligible stored cards.
-
Simpler e-commerce integration. New REST interfaces support selected payment flows, refunds and reversals. Container-ready deployment brings the e-commerce acquiring solution into Kubernetes environments.
-
More transparent merchant pricing. Scheme fee prediction supports Interchange++ pricing, helping acquirers manage margins and explain transaction costs.
-
Regional payment connectivity. New support covers B-Card detokenization through Thales Cloud TSP and Visa V.I.P. Full Service acquiring requirements in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Digital wallets: stronger engagement and more flexible services
Wallet enhancements help institutions encourage adoption and adapt services to different customer needs.
Configurable in-app promotional banners create a channel for introducing features and relevant offers within the wallet. Card top-ups through Mastercard Payment Gateway Services, including 3-D Secure authentication, give users a familiar way to fund their accounts.
For business customers, configurable KYC document requirements and expiry notifications support different company types within one onboarding framework. An extensible integration module connects wallet journeys with third-party services, while S3-compatible storage provides more choice for managing documents and other files. Access recovery after a phone-number change reduces account abandonment and preserves continuity of wallet usage.
Platform enhancements: faster change with operational continuity
Platform updates address the work behind product delivery, from connectivity and testing to deployment and data management.
-
Integration and digital services. A dedicated MPGS interface and JSON Transport simplify payment connectivity and provide faster integration. New REST APIs were added to support standing orders, payee management and automated Case Management user administration.
-
Deployment and availability. Way4 Rolling Deployer supports frequent releases and hotfixes with near-zero downtime for supported database objects. High-availability support for key cardholder REST APIs helps maintain service during failover and maintenance.
-
Data and reporting. New Data Management Platform services support template-based reporting, publication of business-object changes, and improved data streaming and re-streaming capabilities. Datamart improvements strengthen tariff loading performance and validation.
-
Testing and supporting services. A web-based Product Inspector and more reusable test script context variables help business and testing teams prepare product changes efficiently. Updates also include a multichannel Notification Hub, containerized Host Card Emulation and Oracle 26AI support.
