Way4 supports CBDC cards issuing and acquiring

Way4 has enabled multiple banks to launch Eurasia’s first CBDC cards, both on the issuing and acquiring sides. The project went live in Kazakhstan, with Mastercard, Visa, and OpenWay providing strategic infrastructure to ensure global acceptance of these cards for both in-store and online purchases.

The list of CBDC card services already supported on Way4 includes:

• Accessing the government’s CBDC platform to open a CBDC account for an individual or legal entity
• Issuing plastic and virtual cards linked to the CBDC account
• Processing card payments in CBDC with multiple options: POS and e-commerce, closed-loop and open-loop, with and without real-time conversion from the digital to fiat currency
• ATM cash withdrawals from CBDC cards, both closed-loop and open-loop
• On-us P2P transfers in CBDC
• and more

It took our team only six weeks to help the banks integrate their Way4 facilities with Corda, the blockchain and tokenization platform used by the government to manage CBDC accounts.
