HP and OpenWay Partnership Achieves “Mainframe Level” Financial Transaction Processing
Operating on HP’s latest Superdome platform, WAY4 brings together Hewlett Packard, global provider of financial IT Solutions, and OpenWay, leader in financial transaction processing technologies, to demonstrate their advantage in scalability and fault redundancy, thus positioning their solution to replace mainframes as the backbone in the banking and financial payment industry.
March 20, 2005 - Brussels, Belgium and Moscow, Russia
HP and OpenWay, leading providers of new IT solutions for payment transactions processing, achieved and satisfied their customer’s performance requirement for 15 million Debit and Credit Cards on WAY4 Card Management and Financial Switch operating on a network of 1,000 branches, 40,000 POS and 10,000 ATMs.
The system achieved 260 financial transactions per second using less than 30% performance of the metrocluster of two 48CPU Superdome nodes (195 gigabyte RAM) running HP-UX 11i operating System and HP StorageWorks XP1024 disk array attached to every node. Each real-time financial transaction is defined as a complete business transaction cycle involving an authorization request with complete on-line fraud monitoring and corporate hierarchical credit/risk checking including commission, VAT and fee calculations
Wim Pardon, OpenWay’s Director of Business Development, gave the following comments on the joint OpenWay and HP solution: “WAY4’s scalability allows its effective implementation for both niche solutions and complex systems managing 15 million cards. The outstanding WAY4 technologies and fault-tolerant HP Superdome cluster platform empower us to offer stable end-to-end solutions to major banks, 3rd party- and telco- processors. Today, WAY4 successfully works for 5 national European and Asian processing centers to offer new features in growth businesses. OpenWay continues to develop our business in the high-volume transaction processing segment”.
Matthieu Segard, leading the Payment Solutions unit for HP in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa added: “HP has now enjoyed a long work history with OpenWay's WAY4 product suite. This product has been implemented successfully on different HP platforms (Alpha Tru64 and HP-UX environments). After several installations on HP Integrity Superdomes of this solution in Europe and CIS, which include the largest banks of some countries, WAY4 is now live in 3 continents. OpenWay has demonstrated its capability of addressing different segment of the card processing market in different technological environments. OpenWay is now becoming a global partner for HP on these markets segments as there is a common understanding of the need for value-added services around card payment solutions.”
