HP and OpenWay Partnership Achieves “Mainframe Level” Financial Transaction Processing

Operating on HP’s latest Superdome platform, WAY4 brings together Hewlett Packard, global provider of financial IT Solutions, and OpenWay, leader in financial transaction processing technologies, to demonstrate their advantage in scalability and fault redundancy, thus positioning their solution to replace mainframes as the backbone in the banking and financial payment industry.

HP and OpenWay, leading providers of new IT solutions for payment transactions processing, achieved and satisfied their customer’s performance requirement for 15 million Debit and Credit Cards on WAY4 Card Management and Financial Switch operating on a network of 1,000 branches, 40,000 POS and 10,000 ATMs.
The system achieved 260 financial transactions per second using less than 30% performance of the metrocluster of two 48CPU Superdome nodes (195 gigabyte RAM) running HP-UX 11i operating System and HP StorageWorks XP1024 disk array attached to every node. Each real-time financial transaction is defined as a complete business transaction cycle involving an authorization request with complete on-line fraud monitoring and corporate hierarchical credit/risk checking including commission, VAT and fee calculations
